MEET THE ARTIST

Jessica Guzman, Colombian, Architect by profession and artist by vocation. I find myself very inclined towards painting; she draw and paint since she was a child because it makes her feel free. She finds in pencil and paper the way to materialize her thoughts and emotions.
She is usually inspired by the forms of nature, and her style is a mix between sketch, caricature and abstraction.
The idea of ​​drawing for House of Mats excited her. She loves the concept that Lucía, the owner has for the brand, but more than that, the story behind it and the reasons that motivated her.
The illustrations for House arise from the very concept of the brand: the colors, the postures, the connection with nature, the energy of the sun and the universe, resulting in a series of simple images, made by hand with a soft line, the which communicate the basic concepts of yoga.

Nothing is absolute, everything is complementary, and from that transit the idea arises.

About the design: The elephant in general is an animal that resembles humans, is sociable and enjoys family togetherness. In addition, elephants create strong ties with their family and friends, to the point of being able to identify with each other after a while without seeing each other.
